"It's... never mind... I'm sorry... I didn't mean-"

"Didn't mean what? Didn't mean to judge an animal's way of life? Well, excuse me for living." Timothy then turned away from the cricket, spreading his wings and making a descent to where the food was.

He sighed. So much for being a better person as a cricket.

Timothy found another perch above the food, but he turned back to see the cricket where he had left him. "Well, go on, Mister Self-Righteous!" he called to him. "Go! At least you won't be seen with a criminal."

With a soft, sad sigh, the Cricket flew away.

The mouse, turning back to the food as the cricket flew off, transformed back to his original form. He climbed down to the food, not knowing that the next few moments would take a different turn...

After a day or so, Jiminy decided to go looking for the mouse-robin. He wanted to apologize, again.

Fortunately, Timothy was in the same place as before. Unfortunately, he was now in quite a predicament. The mouse had indeed gotten to eat the food. He still did, from that day forward. The only problem was that it involved him being trapped in a cage, being kept as a pet by a little girl. A pet of all things! How humiliating... And he couldn't do any magic to escape, or even to turn into a robin; otherwise the girl's family would suspect something was up. All Timothy could do was sit and sigh. He was starting to think that he should've listened to that cricket...

He heard the sound of a cricket chirping outside the window.

"Jiminy?" Timothy stood up from his dulled state and listened again. Sure enough, cricket chirps! "Hey! Hey, Jiminy! In here!" he called.

He flew in through the window. "Timothy? Is that you?"

"Yeah!" The mouse jumped up and down in his cage, waving his paws to get the cricket's attention. "Down here!"

"What happened to you?" he asked, flying over to the mouse.

"To make a long tale short, I got caught trying to eat the food," Timothy answered, a little bit embarrassed. "But the daughter of the man who owns this barn is keeping me... as a pet. She saved my life, but... Look at this!" The mouse motioned to the metal bars surrounding him. "I'm not meant to be in captivity like this! I want to be free."

"Yes... I can see that..." the cricket circled the cage.
