Ariel smiled at that, "So is that what it was like here, you have two sets of memories? How confusing, I really haven't talked to a lot of people about it. Most of the people I know well they weren't cursed or don't like talking about it." Ariel told him taking a drink of wine she was actually almost done with her meal and it was one of the best things she ate since coming here.
"The only things, I've know from outside this town are what I have learned from Books or TV though I do admit the first week I was here I learned all I could about this world. I found it fascinating so different from my own and anything I could have imagined." Ariel said, she was really enjoying talking to Eric he was so honest and it was a huge change for her.

Eric grinned down at his plate, it was nearly empty as well. But he knew how to nurse a glass of wine. He got top to retrieve the wine bottle, seeing that Ariel's glass was empty.
"It can be confusing... but not as bad as one might think, not for me anyways." He refilled her glass and then set the bottle down. "The curse focused on my loneliness... though... I had people in my life that made me feel not so alone." A person... though she kept pushing him away every time he thought they were getting close. "I attribute the lack of severity of my end of the curse being from the fact that I was never really on the Evil Queen's radar. Not like some of the other nobles. I never even heard of her until the day she stormed Snow White's wedding... I was at sea so often."
He sipped his glass. "No... It's not so bad for me... not like it is for others." He looked into Ariel's aqua eyes, letting out a sigh. He leaned in. "Your sister... Alana. She had a rough time. Still is... I think that's why she's... lashing out? She's scared of getting hurt. So scared she won't let anyone else in..." He was breaking his rule about thinking of Alana... he was now TALKING about her. But he felt it needed to be said.

Ariel looked at him, "Alana has every right to hate me. If you had known her before the curse, I don't think you would have recognized her. The one thing she loved more then anything was dressing up and going out. She hated humans just like our father and never went to the surface." Ariel admitted.
"What was she like here?" Ariel asked wondering because she only saw Alana once and all they did was scream at each other. Well okay Alana did the screaming Ariel still felt bad about the whole conversation. What was she going to do when she had to face her Father Ariel was putting that off as long as she could.

Eric gave a short laugh. "Well, not like THAT." It was hard to picture Alana as a party animal. Even now that the curse was over, even though she was more relaxed and social... she still very much gave off the vibes of an introvert. Had her spirit really been beaten down THAT MUCH? "Opal, as she was during the curse, was anti-social, stubborn, rude, and a bit odd with her quirks. The thing she hated MOST was being the center of attention... which... is kinda hard for an aspiring DJ..." He finished off his glass and poured another.
"But... I could see past that... she was a bright mind who just need someone to reach out to her... even if she wasn't reaching back." For the first time his blue eyes saddened, looking downward. He then looked back at Ariel. "But I think you're wrong... Ariel, about Alana loving the frivolous things in life before the curse. She did love something more... her sisters."
He shouldn't be saying what he was about to say... it wasn't his place; wasn't his secret... but if it might settle a feud and bring the two sisters a bit of happiness...
"She told me about the ink thing. That she felt betrayed... but did she tell about... after?" He asked.

Ariel swallowed, "Alana cares for all of us she always has, I love that about her. I am the one who hurt her and I will never forgive myself for that. I used the Ink to safe someones life, my sisters wouldn't understand. I was selfish only to be selfless I guess. He would have died most people would have said that was fitting but I couldn't do it." Ariel admitted, she never told this story but Eric was easy to talk to.
"I saved him from drowning I knew what he was a pirate but I saved him anyway. Then he was going to be killed by a Dark Fairy and I gave up what she offered me to save him. I needed the Ink to stop her. Alana has never forgiven me for it, I don't blame her. Its not that I don't love my family I do. I just didn't want to marry and be sent to another kingdom, I needed more. Mermaids are very traditional in their ways and I wanted out of it. I guess when I think about it I can see why my sister thinks I turned my back on my family. I just don't know how to face them now. I'm the youngest so I should have been the most obedient of course I am not." Ariel confessed.
She really didn't know what to do but Alana had talked to Eric maybe if he knew her motives he might understand a little more.

Eric listened quietly. It was quite the tale... and explained so much about the history between the two sisters... between all six of them, actually. He couldn't judge Ariel as harshly as Alana... for NOT being able to let someone die when you could have helped. Eric would have done the same... but then again, perhaps he would feel differently if he had been in Alana's place. A mother killed by a pirate, and then your sister runs off with one.
It was a difficult situation. Eric wished he had the solution.
"I'm afraid that's not all to the tale, Ariel. Not according to Alana." Eric said, looking at his glass. "How much do you know about... the dagger? The one that is supposed to free you from your predicament from Hook?" He could see from her reaction that she was shocked he knew so much about her personal affairs, not even realizing how entangled Alana was in this net as well...

Ariel was stunned, how did Alana know of her curse? How did anyone she didn't get that necklace for so long.
"Actually I had no idea Alana knew about the curse. I just found out the other week about the curse at all. The Dark Fairy gave Hook the necklace but it was a very long time before he gave it to me. I ran into her the other week and she gave me the dagger. What about the dagger?" Ariel asked not really wanting to talk about the fact that she was still in love with Hook and how much that pissed her off.
Because it kept her human and she was still scared to do anything else.

Eric looked into her eyes. "Alana is linked to your curse as well..." He began. Something in him was driving him to spilling all this out, even though it wasn't his information to tell. "After you two parted ways, over the ink, and with your disappearances becoming more frequent, Alana went looking for you. She even surfaced for the first time to see if you were at your island of treasures... that's when she met Maleficent as well..."
He got up from his chair and moved towards the large window, looking out into the ocean, as if Alana was out there right now, a mermaid, as he told her tale to her youngest sister.
"The Dark Fairy filled her in on the nature of the necklace and what it would do to you, binding you to Hook whether he loved you back or not. Alana was willing to do anything to spare you from being bound to such a contract... everyone deserves a happy ending, she believed." He looked down at the bubbling liquid in his glass. "She cut her hair for the dagger, with the promise that she would turn to foam on the waves if you would use it to regain your own happiness back...even as a human."
Eric looked back at the red-haired mermaid at the table. "She hasn't been the same since... understandingly so." A moment of silence passed between them. "I know that it's not in you to hurt anyone, Ariel. I haven't known you long and I believe that with every fiber of my body... but the dagger's existence and Alana's life hanging in the balance..." He trailed off, hating to insinuate that Ariel might try something desperate. "Do you have the dagger with you?"

No
It was all that went through her head as he spoke. Ariel felt tears brimming in her eyes.
"She did all that for me... I can't understand it." She couldn't Alana would have died if she killed Hook and Ariel would have never forgiven herself. She looked at Eric, he was clearly in love with her sister or else why would he bother to tell her all this.
"I still have the dagger, I couldn't kill him he maybe a pirate but there is something in him worth saving. There is a reason I love him and its not because, I hate my family or just want to be free or even this stupid necklace. I don't expect my sisters to understand that. I just am shock Alana would do that for me, I don't deserve it and I am happy I didn't kill him now more than ever. The dagger is at home and I can give it to you to give to her." Ariel took a few breaths to calm herself.
"It would only work if he died by my hand. So Alana is safe. Now I understand why she doesn't want to see me. I don't blame her, can you tell her I'm sorry and I do love her." Ariel put her head her her hands.
Since becoming a human, her life had been a mess and Ariel was learning. It was a slow process since she made so many mistakes but it didn't matter what others thought Ariel had to make them. With Hook well she wasn't sure if that was a mistake or not he showed Ariel a side of himself he kept hidden and Ariel knew that's why she loved him. Of course explaining that to people was useless especially her family.

Eric saw how much what he had said upset her. Immediately he was kneeling in front of her pulling her hands away from her face and holding them in his own large ones. "I think it would mean more, coming from you." He wiped a stray tear away from her face. He knew he shouldn't feel this comfortable with her, they had JUST met... but her anguish melted his restraint.
He tilted up her chin so she could meet his eyes. "She's still in there... a big sister who loves you... that's worth fighting for, isn't it?" He asked her. No one should have to feel alone.

Ariel looked at him, he was so very kind and she really didn't have a lot of experience with truthful, kind, caring men.
"Your right, I will talk to her. If she wont talk to me then at least I'll have tried." Ariel met his eyes, they were so blue.
"Thanks Eric, I feel slightly better now."

She was giving a weak smile now; she could feel the warmth from his as he tried to make her feel better. They stayed like that for a few beats... and Eric couldn't remember who made the first move... but suddenly their faces were moving towards each other. He closed his eyes as he felt her full lips press against his. He brought a hand up to hold the side of her face.

Ariel was a little more then surprised at her boldness and she had no idea who made the first move but she kissed him. He held her face gently and Ariel had never really had a kiss like it before.
Her hands found there way around his neck and Ariel kissed him further. She deepened the kiss slightly, he was really a good kisser.

His dark lashes rested against his tan cheeks with the gentle kiss, but then his blue eyes snapped open, in bewilderment as he felt tongue invade his mouth.
...So, being a man, he responded back with the same amount of vigor. He was slightly surprised at the boldness... but he couldn't think straight with her lips against his... tasting of wine and spice. Her arms were slipping around his neck as she knelt to his level.
He was trying to keep them upright with his grasp on her, but they fell to the floor.
This wasn't like him... but it had been so long since... and his hands explored her back and the smallness of her waist. Her hair was cascading all around him like a red curtain.

They fell to the floor and Ariel didn't want to stop kissing him because he just felt good.
What the hell am I doing?
She let her hands run though his dark hair, as she kissed him back. The floor wasn't ideal but he didn't seem to want to stop kissing her.
