Jefferson went to put together a lunch for the day as Grace went ahead and counted the money. He made sandwitches and put in fresh fruit. "What is the verdict, my Grace?" he asked. "How much do we have?"

After having counting the money within a few minutes her father came back and she looked up at him. "I think we will be good for a few hours.." she said grinning and handing it to him. "I can't wait to go to the fair. Its going to be fun. So much to see and do!" she said grabbing her cloak and placing it on. "Ready?" she asked curiously looking up at him.

Jefferson gave a chuckle. "My saving Grace, always bright and eager to go." The man grabbed his own clearly handmade cape then and, grabbing a hat as well, took the money pouch from his daughter and grinned. "I'm ready. Lets go."

"Well it is the fair Papa.." she said giving out a light laugh. Then she watched him as he grabbed his hat and then walked out with him. "Today will be interesting.." she said softly looking around her surroundings swinging her hands arms by her sides.

He chuckled, letting her go out the door first. Jefferson then stayed close to her. "An interesting day? How do you figure that, Grace?" he asked his daughter with genuine interest.

"Its always an interesting day here Papa" she said grinning lightly up at him. Grace knew how protective her father was of her and she looked around her surroundings. She heard the sounds of birds and she smiled softly. "Papa?" she questioned. "Ever wondered where mother would be? I wish I knew her. Do you think she's happy on where she is?" she asked curiously looking up at him as they walked. Grace never knew her mother Alice, but hopped he would talk about her.

Jefferson came to a stop upon Grace's mention of his late wife....her mama....
"......I've never told you about your mama...have I?" he asked quietly after a moment.

"No...You never mention her.." she said softly looking up at him. "How come?" she asked curiously looking up at him still as her hood fell off her head and she looked up at him curiously still.

Jefferson turned to Grace. He then took both her hands and knelt to her height. "Grace...." he started softly. "I dont talk much about your Mama because.....because it hurts for me to talk about her...." He placed one of her hands on his heart. "...Here..." Jefferson met his daughter's eyes then. "But I know you are old enough to be asking....So any questions you have, just ask them....alright?"

Her eyes darted up to his own as he took her hands and she looked at him sadly. Wondering what she had done wrong. "Have I done something Papa?" she asked in a small voice. She clearly did not want to hurt her father's feelings for asking about her mother. "Why does it hurt?" she asked curiously tilting her head then she felt him place her own hand upon his heart and she smiled softly. "Alright Papa.." she said softly and leaned into him to hug him. She didn't want to pull away. "I'm sorry about asking...I was just.. curious...that's all" she said softly burying her head into his shoulder.

Jefferson held his daughter like that for a moment as he kissed the top of her head.
"It hurts...because when she found out she was going to be a mama....she was so happy." Jefferson moved Grace again so that he could meet her eyes. "Her dream was to be a mama, Grace" he told her softly. "And she would be so pleased at the gentle and caring young lady you are. That you are taking care of your papa like you are...."

Grace sat upon his lap as he spoke to her. "I wish I had known her longer Papa.." she said laying her head upon his shoulder and sighed softly. "The fair awaits us though!" she said giggling and she smiled up at him. "I love you papa.." was all she could say at this point. "I know Mama would have wanted it.." she said as she looked down.

"You truely are My Saving Grace" he told her as he gave her a hug. "But you are right! We've got a Faire to go to!" He picked her up then in a surprising lift, sweeping her off her feet. "M'Lady"

When he hugged her she lowered her head upon his chest and sighed and hugged his neck. Then she looked up at him and giggled. "Yes" she giggled softly and nearly screamed and said nothing.

With that, Jefferson continued on through the woods actually carrying Grace! She wasn't heavy. Especially not to him.
