Ariel watched him he looked upset which was confusing to her.
"I just assumed you didn't want to see me. Not that I could blame you I mean I am the one who saved Mulan form the seas and brought her to Hook's ship. I got him involved and because of that you lost everything. I know its not my fault but it sure feels like I had something to do with it." Ariel took a breath.
"I'm sorry Sheng. It was the only place I could bring her at the time." She didn't know what to say but Ariel felt partially responsible for this.
"I know Hook can be an asshole but I never thought he would hurt Mulan then again I didn't think anyone was coming after her either."

Sheng watched her in stunned silence. He suddenly took her in his arms, embracing her, pressing his cheek against her forehead.
"Thank you, Mìirényú..." He murmured. "...For saving my friend. And here I thought maybe... impossibly so... there was a shred of goodness in the pirate to have fished out a stranger and take her in without harming her... but it was you. YOU saved her..." He pulled away, cupping her face in his hands. "I am grateful."
If he had felt alone the day before, with no anscestors to guide him... he certainly didn't feel that way now. For even now... he saw that their fates were entwined together, as friends or more he didn't know... but it was able to transcend a curse, decades, and they didn't even know each other until the other side. Fortune was with him... in the form of Ariel's crimson hair.
He let his hands drop, realizing he was very close to her, though he didn't want to stop touching her face. "I was not mad at you, Mìirényú. I... I just can't live in the same town knowing that he is here... and not crave to exact revenge upon him. And knowing that it would devastate you... because he is your... friend." He looked down, gently taking her hand in his. "I don't wish to do that to you. And it hurts my pride. But my pride means nothing if I don't have you... as a friend. You are... my clarity, I'm finding."

Ariel couldn't remember the last time someone spoke that way about her. He was hugging her and touching her face Ariel's heart was racing.
"I don't wish to lose you over this. I am glad your still willing to be my friend." Ariel squeezed his hand, "Is means a lot to me Sheng. I've lost much sticking by him and yet I know its my own fault I am not able to turn my back on him. The Loyalty of a mermaid I suppose..." She shrugged Ariel never thought of it like that but perhaps it was slightly true. Her loyalties were always a bit misguided.
"I consider Mulan my friend and you should know she is still in the Enchanted Forest. She was frozen along with some others. She is alive and well." Ariel told him hoping it might answer some questions for him.
"Anyway I thought it might be easier to not show up to your class. If you can wait a moment I will go back with you? I bet your students miss you already." She smiled.

Sheng closed his eyes for a moment. "I am glad to hear she is safe. I feared for her when I didn't see her. We...parted ways... after..." After he had admitted his feelings for her. She did not feel the same. "...she nursed be back to a healthier mindset. Despite my new low status as a coolie. I owe her much. And I owe YOU much... without her... I might have been lost forever."
Ariel reminded him of class, his eyes slowly opening. "Arista has it under control. It's not the first time I've had to run out during a class... though I try not to make it a regular occurrence." He looked into those aqua pools of hers. "...What if... we had that meal that we didn't get to have yesterday?" He suggested. "It's a little late for lunch... perhaps dinner?" He was breaking so many personal rules of his. Dating a student, favoritism, skipping out on a class for social reasons... and yet none of that mattered. He wanted Ariel to himself in this moment... not a few moments here and there while he instructed her.
"Anywhere... you choose...Měirényú."

"I am glad Mulan was able to help you. She actually led Hook to find me they needed something only I could get them to get back here to Storybooke and when Hook followed them I came with him." Ariel admitted
Ariel eyes widened at the next thing he said, he wanted to skip class and take her to dinner? It didn't seem like something Sheng would ever do but then again she wasn't about to argue. Ariel smiled at him before replying.
"Well I'm not dressed for anything fancy what if we picked up something and went somewhere with it? Its a warm night out so being outside sounds nice." She suggested that would give them alone time as well. Since Ariel was dressed in jeans and a sweater she wasn't really ready for a night on the town.
His little nick name for her never failed to make her heartbeat a little faster and she attempted at making it beat normally.

"Sounds good." He nodded. His full lips were set in an expression that one couldn't tell whether it was a smile or just a relaxed state, but the glimmer in his dark eyes proved it to be a small smile. "And I know the perfect spot. We can grab some Indian food... or Italian, I've never tried that... it's completely up to you. And then, I'll take you. To the spot." Ariel gave him a look but he shook his head with unyielding resolve. "No, I shall not ruin the surprise."

Ariel smiled, "Lets try Indian food this time its lighter then Italian you have to work your way up to that Sheng." Ariel smiled excited he wanted to take her somewhere new.
"Hold that thought," Ariel dashed in the bathroom and pulled her hair up into a pony tail. She then slipped on a pair of flats and grabbed her purse.
"Okay I'm all yours." She told him turning to grab her keys and lock the door behind her. It was not how Ariel expected to spend this evening so she was pleasantly surprised by this out come. Sheng skipping class to hang out with her it must mean something right? Ariel felt a connection to him she very much wanted to explore that further but only when he was ready.

Sheng grinned and walked beside her down the hall until they reached the exit. Once in his car, they drove off to the only Indian restaurant in Storybrooke; it was a shady "hole in the wall" kind of place, but Sheng swore by the food... it was good stuff. They took it to go, getting back into his vehicle.
Ariel was of course very curious about where he was taking her, but her face fell ever so slightly as the beach came into view... though she still smiled. She was a mermaid, a being of the OCEAN, of course she had come here numerous times.
"Just wait, Mìirényú." He told her. He drove further down, and when there was no more lot to drive on, he took the vehicle down along the beach continuing further down it...
Until FINALLY the tall lighthouse could be seen. The sky was getting an orange cast as sunset approached.

Ariel waited carefully while he drove past the ocean she looked out the window. Ariel had never had Indian food before and she had never been brought somewhere as a surprise.
"I'm excited to try something new Sheng." She lost her words seeing where he was bringing her a light house at sunset.
"Oh its so perfect I love watching the sunsets and rises I never could as a mermaid." Ariel smiled

"Really? I would think that it would be easier living in the ocean." Sheng said. "Just pop your head above water and witness an unspoiled, unobstructed sunset..."
He got out of the car and led Ariel over to the gated entrance of the huge lighthouse. He handed her the bags of carry out food and then he took a running start and ricocheted off of one side of the tall door frame with one foot on to the other side with the other, climbing higher and higher until he was able to shimmy himself between the gap between the metal gate and top of the door frame. Then he disappeared for a moment, though Ariel could hear him land with a graceful thump...
...A moment later, the gate was being unlatched and opened for her.
"...Though I suppose they are best admired in the presence of others, instead of alone..." He said as an after thought to his previous statement. He then took her free hand and led her up the stairs inside, getting ever closer towards that unfailing light that spun slowly in it's place; eternally.

Ariel stood back watching him was pretty amazing he was able to climb up anywhere and so fast to. She smiled as she watched him break into the lighthouse effortlessly.
Ariel also liked the danger behind it doing something they weren't suppose to it was always pretty exciting. She laughed as he opened the gate for her.
"I agree they are better much better with another person. Still going up to the surface was rare later I began to get braver and would go as much as I could. I always loved the way the ocean would turn colors. Even under the sea the sunlight casts a orange glow on the top of the water." Ariel chatted as the went up the winding stairs her voice echoed off the small walls but she knew the view from the top would be amazing.

They emerged at the top, well, at least where there was railing that went all the way around the column of the building. To one side, Storybrooke... in all it's splendor... and the other... endless water that led to who knows where.
"I come here sometimes. To meditate." Sheng supplied. He knelt on his knees and started taking the food out of the bag and containers, preparing it and spreading it out as if it were an art form. "I hope you like it." He said. "Sometime I'll have to cook for you... but Indian food is my second favorite, next to my own culture's. Though I am warming up to mexican..." He added with a quirk to his lips.

Ariel looked around at the view, "Wow its amazing up here." She sat down next to him, "I am sure I will love it. I love trying new things. Sometimes I will just go to the store just to buy stuff I've never tried. "
Ariel watched him display the food it was amazing how nice he made everything look. "That would be really nice I bet your a great cook." Ariel said her eyes resting on the ocean she felt a ping of longing for it for a moment. It was apart of her no matter how much she tried to be human one part of her was the ocean and she would always long for it.

"Do you miss it?" Sheng asked. "The ocean? Being a mermaid?" He asked. "That's not a painful topic, is it?" He asked, hoping he wasn't touching on a sore subject. But she had such longing in her eyes as she looked out at the large body of water. He wanted in... to know what she was thinking... to make her feel better.

Ariel thought for a moment before turning to him. "It's not painful for me, I do miss it sometimes only like one might miss there home. I love being human but it hasn't come with out a high cost one I was and still am willing to pay. I wanted it more then anything but the ocean is a part of me and I don't think it will ever let me forget that." Ariel wondered if that actually made sense to him.
She looked back at him, "It's confusing I guess..."
