Ariel was getting ready to sing tonight as she applied her lip stick in the bathroom mirror. She felt good actually really good better then she could remember feeling in a long time.
Since tonight was a formal night at the club Ariel was a bit more dressed up. She was wearing a longer cut black dress able to restore it after her dip in the pool with her sister. Ariel added a pair of teal green high heels and jewelry to match no one would know it was the same dress. She had worked hard on the song she was going to sing tonight because it was really a difficult song.
For a lot of reasons and only some of them had to do with song itself. Ariel had sung a lot in this club and why tonight felt different she had no idea.
She waited at the mic for the first bars to start then Ariel began to sing.
"Listen to the song here in my heart A melody I start but can't complete Listen to the sound from deep within It's only beginning to find release."
She felt like she was finally able to let go of Killian and damn the consequences. Ariel for once didn't care what happened it just felt good to be free and maybe some part of her would care for him forever but only as a friend.
"Oh, the time has come for my dreams to be heard They will not be pushed aside and turned Into your own all 'cause you won't Listen"
Sometimes Ariel felt that no one understood her and maybe she never understood herself as well. Still she wanted to have people hear her because right now she felt free and it felt better then anything she could imagine as if the weight holding her down was lifted finally.
"Listen, I am alone at a crossroads I'm not at home in my own home And I've tried and tried to say what's on mind You should have known"
Ariel sang the last few words singing was the best way for her to express herself and this felt like the words matched how she felt perfectly. She found herself at a crossroads only this time Ariel knew the path she wanted to go down for the first time in a long time. It was for her and no one else.

Sheng stepped through the doors of Club Robin. Ariel had invited him to come one of these nights, but he had always had something else to do unfortunately. He hoped that she wasn't beginning to think that he was ignoring her. So finally, on this particular evening, he cancelled his plans... just to see her. She said that she sang some songs with the band, so he had assumed she might do a few songs in a set... but when he saw her name in large font with a professional head shot out front... he revised that assumption; she was the MAIN ATTRACTION.
As he took a seat at one of the tables he realized that he was vastly under dressed in his jeans and rust colored t-shirt. He fiddled with the leather and bead wristband at his arm until he felt a hand on his should. He looked up at a waitress.
"Can I get you anything, hon?" She asked, smiling down at him.
"Oh... how about water?" He asked.
She gave him a look, like he should order more, but she scribbled it down. "Alright... water it is. Just let me know if you need anything else..." She walked away.
He leaned back into his chair, when Ariel came onto the stage. She looked beautiful... as always, her hair striking against the form-fighting black dress she wore, softened by splashes of teal here and there. He couldn't take his eyes off of her. He couldn't deny that things had changed since that day at the town line... when she almost had to flee Storybrooke with the Fitch family... and her tearful goodbye. They didn't know much about each other, but knew that they mourned what could have been explored....
Well... the world DID NOT end that day... and Ariel and Sheng had spent more and more time with one another, learning of each other's culture. He couldn't tell if it was progressing beyond that; last time he assumed that things were moving forward... his heart was crushed. Although Mulan would always be considered a dear friend to him...
He wanted to hear her sing... because singing was a part of the mermaid... and he wanted to know every part of her. So when she opened her mouth and her voice radiated out.... it was more magnificent then he could have ever imagined. He didn't notice when his water had arrived, he was so enthralled. It would be hard to tell on a face like his, but his dark eyes were slightly widened, like a child full of wonder.
He slowly closed his eyes, although she was incredible to watch live, with such emotion portrayed on her face, he could hear SO MUCH in her voice. It moved him. A bare soul, laid exposed and vulnerable before its audience through song.
He opened them when she finished. He expected a stunned silence follow, and it did, but not NEARLY long enough to be deemed appropriate. If something was pleasing to the crowed, MOVED it even...an audience was to remain silent to convey immense respect for the presentation. Here, everyone started clapping immediately after.
He had to let it roll o his shoulders; difference of culture of all...

As Ariel sang she was able to catch Sheng coming in and sitting down. Ariel was excited he finally came and while she spent a lot of time with him since the moment at the town line. She was moving slow with him this time they hadn't even really kissed well maybe once. There was still a lot Sheng didn't know about her the curse she was under and her thing with Killian. After the way Jefferson reacted Ariel was scared to tell him. Even if her feelings for him were becoming stronger.
"Listen to the song here in my heart A melody I start but I will complete"
Ariel felt more like herself as she sang finally she could let go and finally it felt good and right to do so.
"Oh, now I'm done believing you You don't know what I'm feeling I'm more than what you made of me I followed the voice you think you gave to me But now I've gotta find my own, my own"
Ariel held the last note and finished it perfectly Sebastian would have been proud. Ariel felt something she couldn't explain being set free from her. Suddenly she felt the pain in her heart her love for Killian let go as if the vise that held her heart and soul was opened and it was set free. Before Ariel could process any of it her legs became her fin and she fell to the stage floor.

It was such a powerful performance that the band started up again, and Ariel did a refrain. People were whooping and clapping with glee, but Sheng just wanted them to SHUT UP; he wanted to hear the siren sing again. It was honey to his ears and he wanted more of it. He had never been so transfixed like this before in his entire life.
The song was coming to a close, he could sense it, and he was already mourning it's conclusion... but the thought of another song AFTER this one filled him with an excitement that almost made him feel childish. He couldn't care. For this night he was hers... completely.
He didn't realize that his hand was clasping at the white table cloth as she was coming to the close; such joy on her face, for such a bitter sweet song... Sheng felt the corners of his lips going upwards into a smile along with hers... and for a moment, their eyes connected, across the tables of customers. Sheng's heart actually skipped a beat.
One moment he was contemplating what that could possibly mean... and in the next his smile faded as she fell violently to the stage floor, the band members cutting the piece off short as they gaped in shock.
Sheng wasted no time and tearing the table cloth off of the table, the contents on top clattering to the floor, as he rushed over to Ariel. It was now chaos in the club: a band member rushed off to get the manager, everyone was standing up from their seat to get a look, some customers in the front tables were chattering excitedly at what they saw, taking out camera phones and coming up.
"STAY BACK." Sheng barked, halting some of the people in their tracks. He turned to Ariel, who looked a little confused from falling; had she hit her head? He grazed a hand over her forehead to feel for any damage. As realization dawned on her face, her eyes widened in horror, her grasp on him tightened in panic.
"Only look at me, Měirényú." He murmured to her, speaking in gentle reassuring tones. "Listen to me: you are going to be alright. No one is going to hurt you. I promise you." He pressed his lips to her forehead to reassure her before placing the tablecloth over her body. He scooped her up so effortlessly and took her towards the nearest exit in haste, without any response to the protesting bystanders.
Once outside, he picked up the pace, running even, jumping fence and darting behind buildings to lose the crowd that had attempted to follow the two out. To the outside world, she just appeared to be a woman wrapped in a sheet.
He kept talking to her in soothing tones, slipping into his native tongue without realizing it. "It's alright, Měirényú. Wǒ yǒngyuǎn bú huì líkǎi nǐ, I will protect you, Měirényú..."

Ariel looked down at her now fin and wanted to cry after all this is what she was so scared of for so long. She sighed then people started crowding around her and it was actually scary. She remembered the children with Alana and how cruel they were.
Before Ariel could even think to move Sheng had her in his arms. His voice was soft and soothing he was telling her to focus on him so Ariel did. Her ocean eyes met his soft brown ones and she felt better right away. Sheng covered her with a table cloth before picking her up in his arms.
Ariel held on as he ran with her out of the club and down the street of Storybooke his sweet voice was speaking to her in his language which Ariel actually loved because it flowed together reminding her of water.
"Sheng..." Ariel was able to speak to him when they got far enough away. "Thank you for saving me back there. I guess I have a lot to tell you but first if you can take me to the ocean then I will tell you everything." Ariel held him a little closer she wasn't sure how he would react when she told him about her curse but honestly it didn't matter because Ariel no longer loved Killian and it felt better then anything.
She was free finally and Ariel also felt Sheng wouldn't leave her side during this because they had never been about touching or sex it was more about talking with Sheng and Ariel had no problem spending hours talking to him and she wouldn't as a mermaid either. Not that Ariel didn't want to explore that with Sheng because she would have in a moment but he was shy? There was a better word but Ariel didn't really know what it was about him. Still she would be lying if she said she hadn't thought about it.
Alana would be shocked to see her and finally not alone for once. Ariel would have to ask her how she did things with Eric maybe there was something she could use? She looked back at Sheng he was her hero tonight and Ariel was smiling despite her condition.

Sheng nodded at her request and kept walking. It was quite a walk, but he didn't mind; his arms never tired of holding her. And with it being night time, the two didn't draw too much attention.
"You do not have to tell me, Ariel..." He finally said, after a long thoughtful silence to the beach. It had sounded like it was a topic that had consumed her life... causing so much heartache and pain at one time or another; a choice with consequences that haunted her again and again. He waded out into the water until it was up to his waist. He eased her in, but kept a hold of her. "It is your past. I am more concerned with the present... and what I can do to help you, Měirényú."
He saw her tail flex , surfacing from under the water. Her scales were so delicate... an iridescent jade color... and fins so sheer... he wanted to reach out and touch it's smooth slickness, but he refrained... feeling it would be unwelcome attention.
He slowly let go of her, but her arm still clung around his neck. Her eyes looked more vibrant an aqua then before... if that was even possible....

Ariel held Sheng close he was so different from anyone she had ever known and she wondered when she started caring so much for him.
Sheng was tender even though the world wasn't and Ariel could guess he never had anything close to an easy life but that hadn't made him cruel or uncaring. He was still unsure of himself around her and that made him even more attractive to her. However she would be foolish to think for one second he wasn't the warrior he was trained to be. Sheng was like a weapon and he never stopped training himself. Ariel saw that at the town line when things switched. When Ariel was upset because there was so much more she wanted to know about him. She however was still hiding herself from him and it wasn't fair. Finally Ariel knew she had to tell him if she lost him now it wouldn't matter anymore.
"I want to tell you because its a huge part of my life and I actually moved on from a huge chapter tonight. I was so scared of this happening to me from letting go but I did and I am happy." Ariel smiled at him meeting his eyes her's practically glowing in the moonlight.
"When I came to in the ocean after the curse I woke to no family I had no idea what happened my kingdom in ruins and then my friend came to me Killian told me about the curse he offered me a necklace so I could be human. I took it and came here, I wanted that more then anything so I didn't ask questions about where it came from. I never asked the price but I learned it was my love for him. A dark fairy cursed it to twist my love for him into something I could never escape from if I stopped I would lose my human form. A love he wasn't able to return. There was a way out which the price was to high for me to pay. I wish that was the end of my tale but in my quest to be human I did many things that I regret including having my heart removed I got it back but to know I was that weak still bothers me. I can't tell you how scared I was and for a lot of reasons but tonight I am free in a way I can't remember ever being." Ariel brushed Sheng's hair out of his eyes.
"I think you helped me with that and I owed you the truth. I am sorry if that upset you. Thank you Sheng for saving me in ways you can't even Imagine." Ariel smiled at him her hand finding itself in his soft black hair.

Sheng watched her carefully as she spoke. His jaw clenched at the mention of Captain Killian Jones, as it usually did when she mentioned him. She had never gone into such detail about her relationship with the pirate, but Sheng had somehow known deep down that it had been romantic at one point. That made his insides boil... but Ariel had her reasons... and didn't speak ill of him.
Sheng had never told her about how he and the pirate had met...
His eyes widened at the cost of her curse... horrified that something like that was thrust upon her without her knowing. And then came the realization that while every moment she had been human... some part of her had remained in love with her wayward pirate. That made Sheng's eyes lower to the water, with it's weight.
But she brought his chin up to finish, talking about freedom... and that somehow he had played a part in it. Not realizing that Ariel had done the same for him in a way... freeing a very guarded heart... leaving it very much vulnerable to harm... but open to the hope and excitement of blossoming love....
Her hand rand through his dark hair... sending pleasant shivers down his spine. He couldn't contain himself. He crashed his lips against hers, smashing her fullness against his. But as he slowly opened his eyes, he saw her aqua eyes wide open... startled... not in a pleasant way. She brought her hand to her lips, rubbing the soreness away.
Sheng clenched his jaw... feeling ridiculous. The song was over; the walls back up. His face unreadable to hide his self loathing and grief of ruining everything. "I'm sorry. That was wrong..." He tried to back away.

Ariel was shocked by his kiss it was clear he had no idea what he was doing but she wasn't about to let this moment pass. Instead Ariel held his face, "No its not that Sheng... Its just-" Ariel didn't explain she brought her lips to his carefully and softly.
Ariel wasn't good with the slow kissing with Killian it was about passion and well sex so Ariel had to admit she was a bit at a loss as to how to go about this slowly. Jeff was slightly slower but she hadn't spent a lot of time kissing him so it didn't help. Still as she kissed Sheng Ariel ran her hand along his neck and face. Ariel could tell Sheng hadn't kissed very much his movements were sloppy but she could teach him that would probably be a lot of fun.
When the kiss finally ended and it was a bit long Ariel wanted more of him. It was funny she could still experience that even as a mermaid. Her hand didn't leave his face and her other one was now lost in his hair holding the back of his head by his neck.

He thought that would be the end of it...until she bright her red full lips back towards his, softly. The tension in his face slipped away, he let her teach him the gentleness she desired, observing at first, lips relaxed for her enjoyment, until he felt he hard learned enough in the brief lesson to respond back. His lips moved with hears, perhaps inexperienced, but now unafraid to make a mistakes; that was apart of the learning process...
He felt he might float away, but her hand holding his neck in place kept him grounded... in the water...nothing made sense anymore; it didn't have to... He felt her tongue gently stroking at his relaxed, but closed mouth. Giving in, he opened to her, brushing his against hers; not vulgarly... innocently... exploring... and curious. His grip tightened around her waist at the unique contact...wanting more of it.
Perhaps it had been a slow kiss... but it had flashed by, being so new to him... so when she pulled her lips away from his, he sighed with a shudder, missing the contact already. His eyes opened, drowsily... as if from waking from a long, dull sleep... only to be brought to life by that kiss...
"Měirényú... I..." He was at a total loss for words.
They were suddenly interrupted by an intrusive "HI!" Sheng nearly jumped back, pulled out of his trance violently. He turned to see who he assumed was Alana. Ariel had spoken of her. She seemed to have a sly grin on her face.

"HI!" Alana said, popping her head out from under the water, only to startle both Ariel and her... hmmm... who WAS that? Was that SHENG? It had to be. He fit the description...
"Whatcha doing?" Alana asked, feeling slightly guilty for interrupting, but her boredom was getting the best of her, all her sisters were out, and Eric was at a party providing musical entertainment.
She then caught sight of Ariel's tail. "Oh... oh no..." She swam up to her sister, hugging her shoulders. "How did this HAPPEN??? Oh Ariel..." She didn't want her sister to experience this... ESPECIALLY since her youngest sister had been so happy as a human; she wanted to be human more then ANYTHING.
Sheng stood awkwardly with two mermaids in his arms. He let them have their moment.

As Ariel kissed Sheng she knew that with a little practice he would be a really great kisser and she would enjoy teaching him. He was so guarded and for once he let his guard down around her.
He met her eyes after that kiss opening them slowly so Ariel had a moment to watch him he was so handsome in a much different way then Killian and Jefferson. Sheng was almost to prefect Ariel felt herself shudder with pleasure at just being in his arms.
When she heard her sisters voice behind her she was a little sad only because she really wanted to know what Sheng was going to say. "Hi Alana!" Ariel turned when Alana hugged her.
"I know Oh well it had to happen sooner or later right?" Ariel smiled sadly. "Alana this is Sheng, Sheng this is my sister Alana." Ariel felt funny introducing them sense Alana was practically in Sheng's arms as well.
Ariel still kept her hand on his arm not waiting to break contact. "Maybe your training can now involve swimming with a mermaid?" Ariel mused hoping he would come see her and not just because the close contact of him swimming with her made her really happy.

Sheng blinked at her. She was taking this remarkable well, all things considered. She must have been preparing herself for this inevitability this whole time... underneath the smile. It made his heart twinge. "Of course... everyday." He assured her, his eyes catching hers again. If not for the other sister invading the moment, perhaps... another kiss might happen?
But the other sister made her presence known.

Ariel looked back at him, "Really?" She smiled. "I would really like that and I am sorry for not telling you about this." Ariel admitted.
"It's not gone over well when I have told others in the past. I didn't want to lose you..." Ariel was a bit shocked by her boldness but again she wanted to be honest.
"Will you come see me tomorrow?" She smiled hoping that tomorrow she might be able to kiss him again.

"If you desire it." He nodded. He tried to keep his calm demeanor on the outside, but his heart was fluttering.
...Would they kiss again?
