Timothy tilted his head to the side. "Huh," was all he had to say. "That's interesting." He then remembered to introduce himself. "Timothy, by the way."

"Jiminy," he replied, "It's nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you as well," Timothy responded with a light chuckle, holding out his paw for a handshake. "I just hope that we don't get our names confused from now on."

Jiminy shook his hand with a laugh. "Mouse. cricket. I think we can manage."

Timothy smiled, ending the handshake. "At least we'll try." The mouse turned back to the rain outside. "You know, I think we can go pretty far if we stuck together."

"Oh really?" he asked, "What do you mean?"

Timothy had to think about that for a moment. "... I'm not sure," he finally admitted. "Maybe it's because I can see us becoming good friends eventually. The little guys have got to stick together, right?"

He gave a cricket grin. "Yes, you're right."

"Glad that you agree, Jiminy," Timothy said, grinning back at the cricket. "Well, first thing we need to do is wait out the storm together. Anything else and we'd be dead."

"Yeah. I guess I hadn't really thought about the problem with weather like this for a cricket."

That made Timothy turn back to the cricket, his curiosity heightened. "What do ya mean by that?" he asked. "You telling me that you weren't always a cricket?"

"No," he admitted, "I haven't been. But I'm happy that I am now."

Timothy nodded, amazed. Whatever he had been through must have been rough if he wanted to be a cricket. "It's better than being a mouse," he commented. "Being treated like a pest all your life, having to steal food to survive, being chased by brooms..." The mouse shuddered. Those were not good memories.

"I can see why you wanted to be a robin," Jiminy agreed.

Timothy shrugged. "It'll do for now. Bein' free to fly through the air is nice and all, but you still get pushed around when you're this size. What I really want to be..." The mouse sighed. "I'd really like to be a human. Then I wouldn't be pushed around or stepped on, and I can be myself without anyone else putting me down."
